The founding code
The Heel as Structure.
A heel does not decorate. It builds the line of the body, places the support and gives posture its presence.
At Kendrick, the heel is the founding code. It is thought of as architecture: it organises the drawing of the shoe, then the way a woman stands.
A heel is not a decoration
A heel is often read as a height. It should be read as a support. When it is placed well, it does not add an effect: it aligns. The leg lengthens, the torso settles, the step becomes sharper. The body no longer has to compensate.
The line first
A silhouette starts with an axis. The Kendrick heel extends that axis instead of breaking it: in profile, everything reads in a single stroke, from the toe to the shaft. This is what the house calls a true line. The founder’s eye, which comes from the image, has a lot to do with it: read the story of the house.

Support, posture, presence
A good heel is judged on three things, in this order.
- Support: the weight lands under the ankle, without wobbling or tipping forward.
- Posture: the whole holds without visible effort, the back and shoulders follow.
- Presence: the woman occupies space without needing to play a role.
How to judge a designer heel
- In profile: does the line of the heel extend the leg, or cut it?
- From behind: is the heel well centred under the ankle?
- Walking: does the support stay sharp after an hour, not only in front of a mirror?
- Up close: are the heel and the sole edge cleanly finished?
Why fatigue comes from instability, not height
A heel does not tire the body because it is high. It tires the body when it forces constant correction. On a very thin heel the foot rests on a small support surface, the ankle keeps adjusting, the calf works harder and the step shortens. Two shoes of the same height can feel completely different for that reason alone.
When the support is stable, the body corrects less, the muscles let go and walking becomes more natural. The aim of a well-drawn heel is not to lower the height: it is to reduce the corrective effort. That is what structure means here.
The 110 mm heel
On the ALIGN 110 ankle boot, the 110 mm serve the structure: they place the weight and sharpen the line. To read the ankle boot part by part, see ALIGN 110: Anatomy of a Designer Ankle Boot. To see how it moves, read how Parisian women walk all day in heels.

The heel is a starting point. Structure exists to let presence return.
