Black Kendrick ALIGN 110 ankle boots, the piece opened through the waitlist

The house

Small Opening, Real Demand.

Kendrick builds demand before stock: a waitlist, a limited opening, then pairs made in Italy for the people who asked for them.

Most shoe houses make first and sell later. Kendrick reverses the order: the list comes first, then a small opening, then the pairs. Demand is real before a single one is cut.

Why reverse the order

Stock is a bet on what people will want. A house that is small, precise and focused on craft does not need to place that bet. It can ask instead, and build only what has been asked for.

How an opening works

  • The waitlist. People who register hear about an opening first.
  • A limited opening. A piece such as the ALIGN 110 returns in limited numbers, announced to the list first.
  • Allocation against a target. An opening moves toward a target quantity, so the demand is visible while it forms.
  • Production in Italy. Once the demand is confirmed, the pairs are made in limited production, hand-assembled in Marche, Italy.

What it changes for a client

A pair is made with someone in mind. There is no clearance rack, no pressure to buy the wrong size because it is the one left, and a much closer link between the house and the person who wears the boot.

What it changes for the craft

Making to demand keeps production small enough to stay precise: the 110 mm heel built as structure, the Italian lambskin shaft, the leather sole. Quantity follows quality, not the other way round.

What it changes for boutiques

The same logic is offered to retailers: a pilot run instead of a broad commitment, so a boutique reads its own clients’ response before it scales. See how boutiques start with one ankle boot.

How to follow an opening

Join the list. It is the only place where an opening is announced first, and the simplest way to reserve a place before the pairs exist.
