On Heels

Are heels bad for feet?

The heel is not the problem. The construction is.

Short answer

The heel is not the problem. The construction is.

A 110mm heel with stable geometry distributes weight differently than a narrow stiletto at the same height. The difference is not cosmetic — it changes where pressure lands, how the ankle loads, and whether the foot compensates or holds.

Most discomfort comes from three things: an unstable base that forces the ankle to work constantly, a toe box that compresses the forefoot, and continuous wear without pause. Fix those and the height becomes secondary.

We design around a structured heel axis precisely because of this. The goal is a shoe that repositions posture without punishing the foot for it.
